MORE INFORMATION
Many households that have solar power installed are not maximising the efficiency and benefit of the solar power that is being generated. The TopSpear Solar Monitor was designed to assist in using solar power more efficiently by displaying green or red indicator lights which are a direct, real-time indication of solar power being generated (green) or grid power being purchased (red).

The following information provides technical details about the TopSpear Solar Monitor. This will help you use your TopSpear Solar Monitor to its greatest advantage.
What feed-in tariff are you receiving from your energy provider?
A low feed-in tariff is considered to be <20 cents/kWh.
If you are on a low feed-in tariff, it is best if you utilise all the solar power you can during the day. That way, you are maximising your "free" power and minimising purchase of expensive grid power at night. If you have a TopSpear Solar Monitor installed, aim to have just one green light illuminated during the day. If two or three green lights are illuminated, start using some appliances to maximise your use of your solar power, rather than "selling" it back to your energy provider at a low cost. For example, aim to use cooking appliances, pool filter, hot water system and air-conditioners throughout the day. Aim to use about as much solar power as you are generating - this can easily be achieved by watching the lights on your TopSpear Solar Monitor.
A high feed-in tariff is considered to be >40 cents/kWh.
If you're on a high feed-in tariff, your aim will be to sell as much solar power back to your energy provider as possible, which will often translate into savings or credits on your power bill. If you have a TopSpear Solar Monitor installed, aim to have as many green lights illuminated as possible lit during the day. Turn off as many appliances as possible during the day. Use your appliances at night.
Only with the TopSpear Solar Monitor will you be able to visualise the solar power you are generating and make savings on your your energy bill. Purchase yours today!
